The Sugar Champion

He glides though the aisles
Burning fatty acids
His sword oft sucked upon
Is a pepperami of its former self
Smiles at the price of sucrose
Chortles at coke's steep fee
He thinks of policy he forced wrought
The advertising gurus his piped tune followed
Whole Governements of the west
Bent at their knee amidst some of the east
The pictures were graphic
But not so to scare
The argument was compelling
The old nanna Betty even saw truth
But the children
Oh the children did not understand
Where are my sweets?
Who would take them away?
The sugar champion
Made glucose fructose maltose addicts life hard
The chocolate prices displeased even
The ladies of leisure
As the argument focused on the poorest
And the snap of the sugar croc's trap
In the end there were peddlers
From foreign states
So rations were given free
To those who could not cope
But the children's screams
Were soon alayed by toys and games
Hidden in heathy things
Treats were treats
Nothing was banned
Just everyone lived longer
Cardiologists got poorer
As exercise but for the ill was monitored by GPS
This land lost buckets of fat
By the millisecond
Two sperm whales every four hours
CHD deaths started to sink
Diabetes rise slowed tapered then dropped
We still had our cities
And our cars
But they were slowly redesigned
By special ergometrists
And a team of scientists
The car now needed variable
Physical effort in the larger muscles to drive
Core stability was strengthened in the ride
Strangely more people walked and biked
But the Sugar Champion knew that
For this to be achieved
Market forces needed to be whipped
Channeled and fined into diversions
Like a river by clever irrigation
The Sugar Champion brought years to the nations
