Always `You`

I remember walking up the steep hill
To High Barnet
The busy road, the houses and clinic on my left
The railway line entering the station
On my right;
And I suddenly shrunk
As the boundaries of Earth and Universe
Disappeared;
The smaller than a dot me
Became smaller,
And I felt my aloneness;
That was before, many years before
You made me aware
Of always `You`;
And now it’s hard to be alone
When you’re the silent voice
In heart and mind.
We can try to follow a movement
As if all was on the outside
But you’re reframed in our paradigm
And you can only emerge through the filter
Of our souls;
Yet in the stillness
And when we are still;
In the silence that we have to make for ourselves
The soft music, first faint
Will be heard;
And Your true nature
Not the many faceted shapes created by the souls of billions,
But Your true nature to me
Can be worshiped finally
In union,
And as `Other`.
