The Fez (A Mystery)
A large man wearing a Safari suit
In the lobby of the Savoy
Reading `The Telegraph` and sitting in one of the high backed cane chairs
He’s European but wearing a Fez
And there’s the rub.
The lobby, always busy, is almost bustling at this time
And Porters pushing wheeled suit cases
Have begun to discern
The incongruity of the Fez wearing broadsheet reader.
The Fez itself is not feeling
The sweat beginning to infiltrate its soft cotton rim.
He turns, a grey suited professional type, obsequious
All teeth and cufflinks;
“He’ll see you now”.
