I was walking down the street with my youngest son, we were holding hands and chatting happily.
I saw a man approaching, holding the hand of a beautiful little girl. I felt secure enough, my son was with me, to smile at the little girl, as they passed by.
Suddenly the man challenged me with a hateful glare, as if I had somehow abused her.
I felt sick and remained in shock for the next few minutes.
My first feeling had been guilt, then a sense of unbelief at his response and mine.
Things have really changed and something is happening to society, it makes me mourn the death of innocence and trust in the goodness of the majority.

maybe he was having a bad
maybe he was having a bad day Mark, maybe he's split with the mother and thought you knew the girl somehow, know what I mean, nudge nudge, wink wink.
Don't worry, society is not that bad yet!

I know that feeling, Mark.
I know that feeling, Mark. It's really sad. I stop myself winking at little children or pulling a funny face. You can't show them that you think they're grand any more.
