Steps For Death
I'm not sure if this is a line from a poem or the title
of a play, but for the last couple of days these words
have been stewing inside of me. Everytime the usual
hardships started putting me through the ringer the
phrase "Death Be Not Proud." would crop up. Not that
death or the grim reaper or whoever's in charge of
reaping souls here has anything to be proud about,
considering that it's not all that discerning. Think
of someone you know who passed away and that thought
can easily be offset by the number of people you know
who truly do deserve to die. And believe me, there are plenty of
people out there who really do deserve to die, people so socially repulsive, or morally devoid that the only
good thing they can contribute to society is their
Somehow the grim reaper or death or whatever it's called has done an awful job downsizing this
runaway freight train known as mankind. There has been
a total lack of good judgement exercised by this entity when it comes to deciding whose time is up here on this polyp of a planet.
Nice job Dickweed. So,with that said,I have taken
the liberty of compiling a short list of three steps death should take to help make its job performance a little better.
1.Death,don't EVER, NEVER, come as near death experience. That's like showing up at a costume party dressed as yourself. Who are you fooling. Everyone knows they're
going to die someday and many of us have come to terms with that concept. Some of us have been so resolute
with it that we go through this life like the
proverbial game board, taking full advantage of our turn, and in plenty of cases, denying and cheating
others of theirs. Mostly it's the last two. The thought of heaven and hell hardly ever jolt any of
us in to place since those two things take place after we die. And granted, earth might be a combination of both but it's not enough of either one to truly deter
us from our sins. Earth is more like a yellow light, inciting those who are racing down life's highway to
speed up rather than slow down because they simply
don't want to stop. Or worse you leave survivors, wounded grievous souls who spend the remainder of their lives either standing in the shadow of death where there too frightened to engage life again, or
you leave those shiny, brimming idiots who cherish
every second of their life to the point that they
go through everyone elses like a fucking twister, spewing optimistic doctrines about how precious
life is. The both of them are like chards of glass
in a shag carpet:Hard to get out, out of the house, out of your hair, and out of your life. Death be like a husband whose been thrown out of the house by his
wife for cheating;Just get your shit and Go!!!!!!
Besides some of us are ready to go. There's
an ever growing number of people that life never
rolls out the welcome mat for who haven't had the
thought of going to hell if they commit suicide
lapsed like their faith in God. Come on Death.
Here's your chance to be a hero. With all the
deaths you have going on here, the tragic deaths,
the untimely deaths, the unfortunate deaths, you
can't make a little room for a requisite death, a pardon for those of us who wince at the thought of having to spend another day here. Even criminals can get clemency.
2. Death please don't be ironic. Don't wait for
someone to quit smoking to give them cancer. Don't let
someone meet the love of their life and then yank them off the face of the earth on the day their
supposed to be married. Life has enough uncertainties, swinging back and forth throughout our day
to day lives like a pendulum. Maybe it will happen, Maybe it won't. Enough already! While we might not
be able to live or die with dignity,we can certainly
deal with the routine. So death be just that: stick
to your routine. Let life drag us by the hair through
all the little peaks and vallies that make up our existence.
3. Death don't be one long agonizing process to leave
this world. Don't have us on our death bed for days on
end, our bodies wracked with pain. Although that might
be good for some cold hearted bastard with no conscience
who managed to get away with plenty of rotten shit while they were alive, being wracked in pain. It's like death is wringing some callous bastard(man or
woman)from a world that allowed him or her to fester.
As for the rest of us,just treat us like a band aid on a sore wound:just grip it and rip it!
