Returning to the sea

At first the soft, fleshiness
of my humanity
rebelled
against the jar of foam and spray,
in the ocean’s uneven coming and going
to shore,
naked of pretensions,
skin pricked porous raw under chill,
febrile,
limbs persisted,
further in, further in,
lungs hesitated, cautious, but
yielded to sea,
enveloped, I returned, a message in a bottle,
faded into expanse.
