With another step I find myself in a strange world
Everywhere my feet go, creatures of small dimensions hovered about
By now I realize this is where I live
Where wasps proudly bear their stingers
Butterflies flutter alongside each other
Spiders await their prey between tree branches
Dragonflies are off catching smaller airborne creatures
Mosquitoes are on the prowl, whilst flies scavenge for leftovers
Walking sticks meander about natural scenery, trying to keep out of sight
These alongside many others are presently sharing the same earth
It took me awhile to realize, but we all live here
In the world of wasps and butterflies

Walking sticks had me
Walking sticks had me completely stumped too, and your explanation left me even more confused. Perhaps it's a US specific thing? I've googled but only actual walking sticks come up
