The poem skates skilfully from outside to in, from nature to point of view 'Council house lawyers' stands out in a good way. Then the return to'feeding tits and robins', Your style reminds me of Yeats.

If the owners change the name of the pub they could have a new pub sign showing her pups sucking her teats. This would preserve the meaning.
