H I Hear

from the ABC set Unordered Tales

I hear the pleas too

I hear the whisper of promises

Coursing through hallowed hallways

Direct in their path, yet vacant in matter

I see man's own resource and hear its vulgar chink

Protected and accumulating in vaults that haemorrhage oceans of wasted
tears

I look to the stars I see their wonder I seek their perception

But, transient faces blaze

Forging an urgent understanding

I notice the pastel meld of urban adornments

Spilling from their towering heights

And again features ignite

Close, so close I want to intrude

No longer inanimate and lingering

In the absurdity of feat, to give chase

Time's evolved

Freeing us of loaves and fishes

And miracles don't unlock vaults
