Abalone
A tiny abalone spews out at least 10,000 ova
A larger one, about hand size, 100 times moreover
They are the food for fishes, and crawl the ocean floor.
And all their flesh is edible - Oh who could ask for more?
The Japanese, a canny race, have quite a curious way
Of picking out great delicacies; of abalone they say:-
'It must be fresh and live and big. We take it in our hand,
Rip out, then tenderly consume, its lovely gonad gland!"
It's true, folks! All of it.
