Glass flowers

No likes yet ♦

from the ABC set Unordered Tales

For you I drew an outline of lead
bleached flowers pressed on glass
Transparent petals waited patiently
an easel of colours congealing

Your left eye held me
forehead lined from unspoken thoughts
the right one opaque
seeing nothing

Those huge wheels which carried you
crashing through life
everything made from another's hands
Never your own

I held your fingers in mine
painting reds and blues
Colours leaking always
smothering outlines

You saw everything
While I seemed forever resigned
to miss "the big picture"
Blurred lines of a clich?
I knew nothing of life

Wednesdays were made of this
but for how long?
echoing round my mind
Always
