Platform

from the ABC set Unordered Tales

she drops her bags
and walks into his arms

and i remember that feeling
like relief
and there is nothing round you
not the teeming platform
or the whine of the tannoy

not the escalators
bearing lines of people
upward to the light

there is only mouth on mouth
the hunger of eyes

i see
his hands in her hair
and something matters suddenly

i remember longing
how it's seated belly deep
a space where something ought to be
and how it makes you careless

i walk past them

lifted from the ordinary
they glow like saints
