I have to say that ABCtales is far, far, better now that the surgery is complete and it has had time to recover. The new addition which Stormy envisioned is a brilliant improvement and saves so much time and effort when you want to find a recent post. Well done to all who have helped to make ABC a pleasure to use once again - and to Stormy, “fingers” and Emily in particular for the terrific time saving tool.

Thankyou mykle for your kind words. I would like to add my thanks to fingers, emily and stormy and to let you know that we are now deep into a major re-think of the whole site for re-building and completion in the summer, which will take it up yet another gear!

whoooo!
can i make a plea now ... if there are going to be new features then could we nick the thoughtcaff gadget of being able to make a list of "friends" and getting notified when they post something new?
that is the single most improving feature i can think of ... particularly now the site is so gigantic and it is hard to keep up with everything posted ...

One problem with the more complicated ideas is the amount of code required and how it affects other areas of the site. Not only do ABC have to pay for all the recoding, the more code on a page, the slower it loads.
My suggestion was a very simple one to write - ie. 60secs of Emily's hyperspeed typing -and it only takes up one line of html on the page.
I argued recently, in the 'discuss writing' section of the forum, that there was not a need for a comments section. Having read all the arguments and trawled other websites I have since changed my mind.
I think that a comments box should replace the ratings system ... surely a reduction in coding? ... and we will all be happier.
