Iced Tea

from the ABC set Poetry

You won't be here
This year, my cup of tea for the soul,
My failsafe sanity preservant.

We were iced tea...
Hype-heated up and
To gain flavour, boiled dry.

Reason iced over, that original fervour
Citrus anger embittered.
Milky fear clouded.

I was engaged- To love
I was addicted- To forever
I was committed- to perfection

Where did that flavour go?
You forgot that the heat of passion
Only serves to excite the water of life.

You forgot, the tea taste of love
Should remain.
Burnt onto the tongue.

I love it, especially:

I was engaged- To love
I was addicted- To forever
I was committed- to perfection

Makes me remember why I'm so in love with love.
