Oh Vienna

from the ABC set Poetry

We are a chaste kiss waiting to happen
By a table, with a lady frustrated by the lateness
Of her boyfriend, pizza cooling

A soft Viennese kiss brings it all back
Your pretentious drawl makes me stutter
Putty in your hands

Let's rush to my feet with tears in a hallway of laughter
One friendship later and you were
Gone. Condemned. Bad for me.

Dizzy heels and a party dress
Being cold in this moment helps me focus you out
A younger one might take your place

I'm easy pickings tonight.

Harsh London words and my allowance is made
You protest your interest and yet
Your words seem cool. I would not touch them.

How can love be so dismissive of its aim?

You are letting me decide to love you.
I will not satisfy your desire
I'll waltz here tonight, out of your arms.

hello ankari, I love that first line.

"You protest you interest and yet"

did you mean you interest? or did you mean your interest?
