Fire (West Pier) Part 2
They tried to send the burning viking longship
out to sea,
But she wouldn't float,
Still stays stuck to the land,
Wedged in full view,
Between the lapping shore and the beach,
This is an embarrassment to the viking elders,
How are we to say a proper goodbye?
If you burn stubbornly infront of our eyes?
Now the sun comes up
we are left with a smouldering pyre on our doorstep,
When you should have disappeared,
quietly, into sunset and myth.
