What have you seen today?
Your mother wipes the same dishes
turns them over between her hands.
The indents on the china
creased like her palms.
Sometimes she can't let go.
You offer to help,
stain dish cloths and buy
her some new.
Fresh and white she admires
them like a work of art.
The fresh start of her body
moves across the kitchen.
Her hair swirls in circles
beside the dishwasher.
Spinning dirty water-
filtering to find something beautiful.

Some wonderful descriptions here Beeme, especially:-
The fresh start of her body
moves across the kitchen.
Her hair swirls in circles
beside the dishwasher.
Spinning dirty water
hoping to find something beautiful.
Great read.

Dish cloths?
I like this except the last line which is a little clumsy.

Thanks Simon, changed the typo. Not sure about the last line, edited it slightly.

A really beautiful piece, Beeme. This had a certain starkness and honesty to it, it almost has to be whispered. Very well done!
