The Labourer
The labourer repairing the neighbour's fence spoke in a distinctive
Leicestershire burr. Clad in paint-stained blue overalls, and wearing a
worn cloth cap, he appeared stereotypically working class. His height
was approximately five feet six inches, and his frame wiry. His bare
hands were chapped from the bitter autumn wind. When he looked up, his
dark eyes squinted in the low sunlight - knotholes in his weathered
complexion. His nose was hooked, and his expression was one of
determination to complete the task in hand. As he turned his head away,
tufts of white hair were visible beneath the line of his cap.
