Haiku diary (1-4)

from the ABC set Poetry

1

A frog, a pond, the
sound of water, just words on
a piece of paper.

2

Black and white russian,
cherry apple mojito,
cocktails: £2 each.

3

Whisper of wet leaves
on an open road, no noise
inside my window.

4

Skeleton pirate,
late cover of darkness, each
door a dead man's chest.

as a diary? as in one a day? i would like to set time aside to do that again, thanks for idea - the way i think of haiku is meditative, transience and moment, and something that expands, deep as an ocean light as a feather kind of ting! traditionaly Nature, something seasonal features, and i like when each line has some own completeness too, your 3rd - all very Japanese for me - i used to write them in Japan - however, a modern kick is great in haiku, they can have a good bite to them, your 4th - and no2 is cute! no1 - thinking splash! the splash of ink on the page -cheers for the read xx

Really good haiku, I enjoyed reading them and I like the combination of traditional and modern. The skeleton pirate is my favourite. I had to keep a haiku diary this week too, how odd. Fun though, eh?
