Ode To A Hangover

from the ABC set Boys, Girls and Alcohol and Random Things (Poetry)

So it’s clear at this point
That alcohol and I
Have a special bond -
We don't have to try

But by far my favourite
Part of the deal
Is the very next day
When it all gets surreal

I nearly cried this morning
When searching for shoes
It’s the hangover you see -
The downside of booze

I almost punched
A woman on the tube
For brushing my arm with her arm
I found it so rude

My eyes are watering
My head feels broke
My lungs have shrunk
From the fags I smoked

I'm craving salt
Sugar and fat
But there is something else
That's worse than that...

For I know that tonight
And I mean 'know' not 'think'
That I'll be back in the pub
Having a drink...
