Oh, is it time yet?
I’ve outlasted the most optimistic
of expectations
yet something is still holding me here;
its not like I am feeling anything
except tiredness.
I want to close my rheumy eyes
one last time
because behind my eyelids
lies a lover
from a time so long gone
I barely remember.
Oh, please a little more?
I'm still remembering the way
her tongue
could pick me up
carry me far away
with her wonderful imagination.
She had a way,
a particularly vivid way with words.
She was perfect,
behind my eyelids.
She glows like an angel
except she hated most people
while I loved everyone.
I can't bear to leave;
my time might be up
but surely, just once,
I deserve to finish this
one
delicious
moment.

Brilliant... you really do have a way with words. If my stories were written this well I'd be famous by now. Steve
