Clock hands catch missing time
As a new days looms and knits
Into a sunrise on the horizon
The ocean wears white caps
Of tidings from faraway places
Carried by favoured currents
Fishermen stands on rock shelves
Arranged according to daring
Joined to the sea by flimsy rods
Surfers dart across waves of emotion
Buoyed by the sheer joy
Of riding as one with the ocean

Love the thought of this line!
Oh, to live beside the sea!

Fantastic, these opening lines. Really enjoyed this in its entirety. I too should love to live near the sea - miles away from it as I live.

Jennifer,
It is lovely to live near the sea. We have the most fantastic views of the beach from our balcony. I consider myself very lucky indeed.
Tina,
Thanks very much. I have lived in the desert and in the mountains but close to the sea is where I belong.

I shall make do with the river for now! One day....
Your house sounds heavenly, Dy!

I think Jennifer and Tina have said it all. Great lines, wish I could do the same with a short story. I live by the water too, close to the docks and ferry terminals, where 17 cruise ships and liners call home. It's not that picturesque, but plenty to see. Keep on writing.

Steve,
Thanks for your comments, mate and a Happy New Year to you. I've been busy over the season with family and working on my writing. Hopefully, I'll be back to my regular posting habits soon.

I like it except that it sounds unfinished. Could you round it off by versifying the comment you made to Jennifer on December 10, 2008?

Luly, thanks for your comment. I will have to revisit this piece and see if I can add to it as you have suggested.
