Once I was a little stream,
wending my way
through the countryside
of my young life.
I was burbling along merrily
over rock, stone and sand,
shallow and happy
content with my direction.
Occasionally, other rivulets
would join with me.
I would gladly accept them,
enjoying the company
until, eventually, they’d dissipate,
searching for greater torrents,
leaving me feeling
a little less than I wanted.
I became stagnated, unmoving
then you came along.
You offered yourself to me;
I felt evaporated, yet
you fearlessly dove in anyway,
changed my direction;
filled me with your kindness.
Like a waterfall, I fell heavily.
We helped shape each other
into a mighty, deep river.
Then you showed me
the ocean I didn’t know existed,
where we joined together
on a beautiful beach
before floating off
into the sunset of our future.

Hi.I have only just discovered this piece and think that it is very beautiful and so cleverly written with Its references to a stream,the imagery is superb.
Each Stanza is equally as lovely as the other.
so very well done.
Lynne.

Shamelessly romantic!

Doeslittle, yes it is indeed. It was originally a piece I wrote for my wife.
