Fading

from the ABC set Something to think about...

As the blue sky fades to red
As tornadoes obscure the sky
My life just brings me more instances to pass me by...

More people who imbed in me,
Impressions so strong

Words shouted,
Words said to harm and prolong

As the blue sky fades to red
As tornadoes obscure my sky
And I’m seen to enjoy less and less,
As my interest dies

People I’m surrounded by,
Not disclosing myself:

Gifted communities of these cold hearted
Critics and pessimists:

Migrated jovial individuals
In high spirits reach a standstill
Their happiness thrown abruptly into landfill...

These cynics
These malformed creatures
They used to love and live
And laugh and give
Until they were taught,
Alas!
They learnt too early how to hate,
They learnt to die in premature wake...
Their laughs turned spiteful and bitter
And, of all of this,
Selfishness was the litter

To the wind we cry:
“Where did our childhood go?”

As the blue sky faded
Tornadoes emerged to obscure the sky
As I realised that we have transformed so much
Leaving behind misshapen,
Distorted muck

As the blue sky faded
Tornadoes emerged to obscure the sky
And the clouds fumed up,
Turned red and cried
