I feel about a million times smaller.

from the ABC set Anonyme's inglorious return to poetry

I feel about a million times smaller...
Waiting here with open arms
And holding out open palms
As if there’s more to give but I just can’t reach it
Or coerce another blue night
Without stepping into the streetlight

I can’t hold my songs as well as I can hold a gun to a head
In a dream that hasn’t turned out yet
Circumstances would leave someone dead if the happenings weren’t outset.

I feel about a million times smaller,
A lot smaller than my shadow
A puddle of Euphoria
Grabbing at the hearts of those whose won’t grow taller

There’s a cloud up in some atmosphere
Is it doubt... regret?
I promised I won’t get too attached lest I’m dead set,

A deep purple
An astonishing blue
Just precious enough to fit in my collective rainbow hue

It’s a shame all some ever wanted was my purple euphoria
All some ever wanted was a shadow half as big as mine
And a tale to tell half as complete as a lone traveller’s; I’d settle for a time to belong in.

I once walked down an evergreen walkway
The trees were a reflection of my path, as the leaves shelter whatever wild thing could grow there.
A ghastly creature from my dreams;
Right beneath the evergreen canopies.
