I am the lost generation
Sitting down
At my screen
I am no motion
Or sociality
Only me
Lost to all hope
Optimism has frowned
And I’m left to fend alone
I am the lost generation
An emblem of your past
Twiddling my thumbs
How long can I last?
Abandoned to all future
And forgotten
By society where none intrudes
By the deep sea
The music’s deafening roar
I am the lost generation
Where will I study?
I am the stillborn child
Of a century
Born to be violent
Born to feel oppressed
To be meager at beginnings
To bear a weakened breast
I am a lost generation
And where will I meet?
Apart from at the clubhouse
The corner of the street
Will be my dwelling place
I’m fallen from the tree
I am the unheard chronicle
Of bad company
For now
I’ll squabble over utterance
I’ll roll up in defeat
I am the lost generation
Will no-one answer me?

Nice one, Ephraim.
You sum up the situation beautifully in the first stanza, and then continue to give your readers much food for thought, as is a 'trademark' of your poetry.

Another one that gives the reader much to think about like Tina said, yet it's not preachy. There's some startling images like:
I am the stillborn child
Of a century

Thank you Tina.
Haha, I'm too young to have a 'trademark' I think, but I'm glad there was some food for thought there.
Likewise, thank you Maggy for your kind words too. I think it's just the honest truth.

Brilliant, Ephraim - I too love the startling imagery you've used in this and think the flow has a very rhythmic quality to it, like little angry whispers, and I like that a lot :)
Great stuff, very much enjoyed and congrats on the cherries :)

agree with Maggy about
"I am the stillborn child
Of a century"
an interesting read

Thank you Rachel, Head :)
I'm glad it's appreciated.
