You thrust one page in darkness to glimpse at the next.
I must tarry here
A moment, it’s a season I’ll forget.
You place a kernel in dust to uproot a tree
So I must watch her
A moment to see.
The leaves yellow, more vibrant close-winter.
I must wait here.
A moment will splinter.
Water will warm then cool to be snow
And brush down to tingle the nose...
Of a faraway youth conceived in a past-riddled present.
A gift here, never foretold.
Then the countries will shake, break and flee from their plates
Just like they did in the fall;
And one will rule every state,
Just as dumbstruck as rulers before.
Yesterday’s paper feeds crisp in the fire warmer, than today’s ever could
As I flip through my dog-eared book.
