Amythos

from the ABC set Poems For Cyril

It's a long way from Tintagel
to Glastonbury
and further still to Avalon.
Though a shortcut via Malory
and Monmouth
will knock centuries from the journey.

It's no less far from Palestine
to Edinburgh,
or a Chapel built in Roslin.
But stopping off in Malta, while
Knights Templar
morphed into masons, passed the time.

Fact's a far cry from history
or legendary
suppositions by illiterates;
but - as someone once said - 'print
the legend',
for a myth is as good as a mile.
