The ink flows from the blunt nib,
descenders probing,
anticipating
the line below,
until answered
by ascenders.
We become distracted.
In mid-line - a new hand writ,
curlicues flowing
proliferating,
in high number
until entwined
and meaningless.
We are soon awakened.
The sheet is stained with pale ink,
parchment crumpled,
demonstrating
the sleep of fools,
until aroused
by succubi.
We renew our scribing.
The dream fades like woven smoke
signifiers lost,
symbolising
the low below
until replaced
by silverpoint.

looking forwards and
looking forwards and backwards it's never clear why we're here, but I guess in dreams everything seems less obscene.
