Hope and aspiration
ev'ry one got some,
grief and consolation
-all that gonna come.
White boy in the market
kiss my brother John;
black girls in the doorway
reputation gone.
Chorus
Someone take a lover,
lose another friend,
someone hurt another,
calypso never end.
Cause for celebration
time to have some fun;
trial and tribulation
come to ev'ry one.
Knife boy in the schoolyard -
he some mother's son -
bloodstain in the gutter,
someone get a gun.
Chorus
Pain and retribution
put this boy away,
my girl get compassion;
someone got to pay.
Some boy kiss my woman
- that jus' cannot be -
when I leave this prison,
he better look for me.
Chorus.

TW3 was, of course, only a stepping stone to Frost's greatest triumph, Through the Keyhole. Lance Percival died of his wounded pride after a duel with Jake Thackray. Not a lot of people think that. But everyone was in black and white in those days, so nothing they did really counted.

TW3 Was a must see programme for us in the sixties, it made so many people famous from the two Ronnies to John clease et al. I remember the topical calypso's by Lance Percival. Nowadays though it would be rap wouldn't it. Good effort Ewan and some great memories revived. Thanks Val

Ok, I am out of my depth on the subject matter, but I think you have captured the accent well, and the rhythm of the accent, if you see what I mean (rise and fall).
However, I have a punctuation question - why is it so sporadic?

For great modern calypsos listen to Ska Cubana - now there's a fine modern beat combo.
