"Aw, c'moan! It wis a barry laugh in that oaffice. Comin' tae meet eez
for a jar, eh? Ah'm payin', likes. Ah've goat wads."
"Em," she hesitated. "I'm washing my hair tonight, sorry. Maybe some
other time."
"What aboot Saitirday? We could go doon the beach, hae a wander, ken?
Ice creams an' that."
"Can't. I'm going shopping. For a new toothbrush. Sorry."
"Aye, but aifter that? There's a karate film oan at the pitcher
hoose."
"I'm having dinner with Ritchie on Saturday night. We're having a cosy
night in."
"Sounds barry! Whit time will Ah come roond? I'll bring a boatil ay
Lambrusco. I've still goat half a boa-"
"Andy! You can't come round, OK? I don't want to see you!"
"Maybe oan Sunday, but?"
"No. Sunday is the day I have specifically set aside for rearranging
my sock drawer. And Ritchie will be coming round at night again. He's
bringing Haagen-Daaz."
"Haagen-Daaz? Ah ken her! She no work at Pizza Hut? Doon the Bridges?
She's German, or French, aye? She doesny like choaclits. Aye. Seren? Ye
there?"
All Andy heard was static.
