Empty

from the ABC set Dust

The earth below my feet,
grounds me
to my reality;
it shoulders the rocks within my life.

The wind blows through my hair,
guiding me;
I listen to it's peace
and the whispering wisdom of the leaves.

The fire inside burns me
intently;
Driving my desire;
Blindly binding me to my fate.

The water dampens my senseless mutterings;
Cleansing;
Sterilising my impurity
and washing my soul.

Yet the void remains in my heart.
A constant;
A painful loneliness
of hurt , of fear , of love and life.

No whole,
No you.
Nothing
Just me.
Free...
Empty.

A very powerful and emotive piece, very well written. The way you describe the double ended sword of freedom and emptiness is terrific, on the one side there are so many words describing freedom, but only 7 words describing empty, and its empty that comes out stronger.

Great stuff
