Lesser Celandine

My ankle was nipped by a nettle, hey daydreamer
it seemed to say, pay more attention, look down
here at the celandine. That’s when I understood.

That it made no difference. The path diverged.
I remembered a lecture: the speaker said Frost’s poem
is the most misunderstood. A little further on,

the paths rejoined, like passengers on a ship walking
different ways but ending up on the same deck
as the people they were trying to get away from.

This is brilliant, I've never thought of Robert Frost's 'The Road Not Taken' that way before! Loved the imagery of the first stanza. Excellent piece!
