She realised that he was madly in love with her and kept her distance to this poor man in his wheelchair, not being able to envisage that she would ever be able to have the same feelings towards a cripple but as time went by her feelings for him became fonder and eventually she reciprocated his love admitting that it made no difference that he was disabled and confined to a wheelchair and that this did not make him an inferior mate or even a human being with less importance.
