I think it is unfair.
You need an occupation
Not empty days
Maybe a job
For everyone
Flexibility
A couple of hours here and there
In the course of a week
You need the company as well
You need to occupy your thoughts
You don’t need to stare into thin air
And think you are useless
That nobody needs you
You don’t need to do stupid things
To pass your time
You need the money
Instead of being on the dole
Your parents need something to identify with
To relate to
you need other people to make you feel a part of it all
Not just a useless human being
Who others seem to condemn
And judge as leeches on society
Even if you are weak and can’t cope with too much
You still have to feel your worth as a member
Of the community
You don’t need a job where the pressure and heat is on
You need an understanding employer
And an easy job
Where it is just as important to have interaction
With the other employees , your colleagues
I guess I’m screaming for justice
For all unemployed and those who may have a disability
We’re not lazy- we’re just unlucky and forgotten
We’ve been left out

This is so true Pia, you've touched on a subject,
that I think many can relate too.
No person should feel useless, like you said, we
all need each other for support and guidance in
this world.
Sometimes when people have busy lives, the unlucky
people get left behind, it's the survival of the
fittest.
I have to say, I admire those people that are
disabled, like in wheelchairs, or that are blind,
or deaf, but still manage to keep their jobs, I used
to work with a girl who was wheelchair bound, she
seemed to work just as hard as any of the people
that had their health, I really take my hat off to
people like that, it must be a struggle for them.
Thankyou for touching on this subject, it's was a
really interesting read.
Jenny.

Really well said Pia. I agreed very much with the views that you convey. You always write thought-provoking poetry which is a gift in itself. Congrats on a well-deserved cherry. Love from someone that is currently feeling pretty `left out'.

well OTT you had better get a cherry then, the sooner the better. But don't feel left out- I always enjoy reading your pieces and I know others do as well.
thank you for your kind comment.

I like this poem. I related to it a lot. I'm not disabled I work full time but struggle, the place I work at is disorganised, it's hard to keep a calm head and keep sane. I'm a very sensitive person and I hide my anxiety well. Too well. I had depression before but mental health has so much stigma I don't tell anyone, not colleagues or bosses anyway. It's great to read pieces like this

Governments should do much more than they do.
Thanks for reading VictoriaW. It's a pity with the stigma- such a pity. Most people have some or other complaint and if we can't be honest about it then we become much too alienated from each other and that is really bad.
