Morning glory

In the evenings
a crowd of Mustafa Mothers
Are gathered on the benches
Chattering and laughing
Their small children are close by
Playing, crying, wanting attention

It is all a bit noisy and a little disturbing
For me as I really am
Very sensitive to noise
And I just can’t seem to join
In on their merriment
And then I long for the morning
When all is peace and quiet and
The blackbird chirps once in a while

Even if it is cloudy and rainy
I enjoy these mornings so much
With the door and windows wide open
To the backyard

I don’t have to rush off to work
I just take my time
And take it all in

If I feel like it I go
for a walk in the forest close by
I’ve got all the time in the world
And I really appreciate it
Some would die for what I have
That wouldn’t help them much
Being dead

I do remember when I had less time
But I have always enjoyed the summer
Even though I curse at the
Bad weather
But today the sun is shining and
Really I don’t have a care in the world

Hello Pia,

what a wonderful way to feel, it's what life is
all about.

That feeling of not having to rush off to work,
is heaven to my ears, you make it such a pleasure
to read aswell. Like you say, some would die for
what you have, it's good that you can see this, I
really hope that feeling stays with you.

Thankyou for cheering me up with this piece, a
real great read.

Jenny.

Thank you for telling me this cheered you up, Jenny. Would be nice to start the day this way everyday wouldn't it? Most of my days start this way at the moment so I am lucky and I promise you I do appreciate it. Yes I count my blessings as you would say. ;D

Really, really love this, Pia - especially that opening stanza and these lines in the second;

'And then I long for the morning
When all is peace and quiet and
The blackbird chirps once in a while'

- I think we all do! ;-)

Beautiful sentiments, beautifully put. Loved this :)

The second stanza's sublime to me! It's beautiful really, how you capture everyday life in this simple poem. Bravo!
