MOONSTONE
By Indrani Ananda

Like flowers of the Summer how soon we grow old,
But Love of a true heart will never be cold;
The wind stirs the cornfield with whispers and sighs,
And I love the fair lady with the blue moonstone eyes.
- - - The Love that I follow is born out of Time
- - - And here on this blue world forever is mine.
The tears of the Summer like amber they fall;
The time they are with us seems no time at all;
The breath of the Autumn is fretful and sighs,
And I still love the lady with the blue moonstone eyes.
- - - But Time on his winged horse forever must fly -
- - - Yet here on this blue world he"s still passing by.
The lights on the water go dancing away;
The footprints awhile in the moondust will stay;
But Earth is so beautiful, precious and old
Like a Love that I treasure burns brighter than gold.
- - - But Time on his winged horse, forever he flies -
- - - And he's chasing my lady with the blue moonstone eyes.
I gave her a crystal that once was a star;
We sailed on an ocean that once flamed afar;
We stood on a mountain which once was a sun,
And we shone like the stardust that once was a man.
- - - Earthborn to stardust and ashes to Time;
- - - Ashes to stardust, and stardust to Time;
- - - The heart of a man to the black blade of Time -
- - - And the Blue World to stardust ........
- - - And True Love to Time.
