"My beloved" : Written by Jonathan Ball
"You know Stan, it could have been oh so different if you just showed
some remorse"
Mark stumbled around the bruised body of Stan like an ageing dog. "I've
had this trouble before. Pablo. He only killed my cat though. The kids
loved that cat." Stan starting screaming underneath the black duct
tape.
"I didn't want to do this. Not again. You went further. Deeper. This
time it wasn't my cat. It was my beloved." Stan began wriggling around
in the sack.
"Or maybe I shouldn't kill you just yet! Hadn't thought of that. That's
what you want me to do. Reverse psychology" Locating the nail in his
boot was easy, as was kicking Stan in the head. "Out for the night were
you. Just thought you'd take the car. Had a few two many" Mark held the
gun before Stan's eyes. "This would be the easy way out for you
wouldn't it" he was whispering now, "but you know what." Mark kicked
the shed door open with a blistering boom. "This is how we end then.
See that glint in your eye. I knew you'd regret it"
Nobody would hear the gunshot as Mark squeezed heavily on the
trigger.

Mark walked slowly across the living room towards the roaring
fireplace. He picked up a small framed photograph.
"It's over now baby. I promised I'd avenge your death. And I did" Mark
slowly kissed the photograph of the sandy Alsatian. "Nobody hurts my
baby. Nobody"
