Into the Desert
I
Into the desert
into the desert
slowly
like a drumbeat
a rhythmic call
into the desert
into the desert
a heartbeat
nothing would still
nothing would silence
into the desert
into the desert.
II
Somehow
the music
became images unfolded
and the images had wings.
In a strangely beautiful landscape,
empty yet not,
the warm rich red earth
rose up
melded with a wide endless sky,
together
an harmonic of shadow and light.
III
I sit
in this strange emptiness
warmed by the earth
graced by the sky
surrounded by eerie songs
carried across the sands
on the wind
and listen for the song of my soul.
