Like they used to

Words that once fell like a waterfall
Are still in your head,

They don't chatter excitedly
Like they used to.

Phrases once spun into being
Like joining two threads,

Don't glitter with light
Like they used to.

Words lose their life,
When forced to a page,
Becoming like lyrics forgotten on stage.

Deciding together,
They'll no longer engage,
They're calling the jailer to open the cage.

Knowing they need to grow
But what if I cannot let go?
