She sat by the river watching me unfold the satchel of paints and
brushes, her wooden triangle, and a stool. Her husband looked at me and
gave a devilish smile and then turned to look at her. When he looked at
her, she blushed with pink cheeks and her eyes squinted in the
sunshine. I took out her fan and skipped across to cover her face from
the suns rays that were scarring her eyes.
'Thank you, Anne' she said.' Will you now leave us? Thank you
again'.
Her husband glanced at me and kept his eye at my face. I turned aorund
and began to walk back to the house, walking carefully around the
flower pots planted alonmg the pathway. The sun was hidden amongst the
trees and the clouds moved. The grass looked as though a large round
shadow had been cast over it as a punishment from above.
I galnced back. they had begun painting the river view.
