DEPTHS

from the ABC set Gothic Poems

DEPTHS

My lover linked his kisses on a chain.

My neck with bruises,

Like far off pools of blood and stain.

Ivory bodies embroidered with demon bites,

And strokes of passion and desire.

I lay upon the lawn,

With roses' thorns around my limbs,

My mind immersed in darkened mire.

He gripped my flesh and tasted sweet my skin with tears.

He crushed between his teeth,

Like grapes, my utmost fears.

I weep no more and followed him

To this obscure stance and depths,

Where the great serpent of the Abyss is coiled in waiting

For the Raptures and the Deaths.

My lips may kiss his satyr-lipped delicious mouth.

I rose to seek my prize

My footsteps, light, wandering South.

I reached the space, where our lust founded its lair.

Seeking the embrace, where I will fall,

I cried out loud in sheer despair;

Until I saw the stars dropped cold into his burning hands;

And visions that, uprooted, glide

The cloudy mirror of this soulless land.

I set my passions free to seek his touch,

To taste his mist and endless fire.

I staggered by the force, the fierce constraint of all his power.

In one embrace I'm lifted to the sky,

Its darkened rim covered with dew.

In one deep kiss, thrown to the depths

With all my senses born anew.
