QWERTY BOARD

from the ABC set THE INNER CONDITION

My laptop has a QWERTY board
In truth it's more a Ouija board,
Speaking not to spirits dead
Seeking words and rhymes instead.

The words are pulled from who knows where
The rhymes are plucked from out thin air,
Emotions, thoughts and memories
Borne upon some inner breeze.

Through my 'board those thoughts arise
Appear from nought before my eyes,
Mem'ries rapid coalesce
Emotions sudden effloresce.

Like a ghost upon my screen
A tale forms where none had been,
Intangibles from out my mind
In the real world defined.

My laptop has a QWERTY board
In truth it's more a Ouija board,
Seeking not for spirits dead
Speaking untold tales instead.

Some good 'lateral thinking', here David. And the imagery of the Ouija board is effective. I know exactly what you mean. I shall never look at my keyboard the same now;-)

I like the poem's overall structure, and the repetition of the first verse is a nice touch.

Hi Tina,

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I sometimes fear that repetition of the first verse, something I often do, is my "get out of jail free card".

I guess the imagery for this poem was a sort of answer to the question I often get from people who read my stuff, "where did that come from?" Most of the time I simply don't know.
