The Struggle

from the ABC set Poetry

I swam across the sea,
I sailed through the stars,
I battled with the raging winds,
To hold on to what was ours.

The sun scorching my neck,
The ice numbing my toes,
The glare stinging my eyes,
And you don't even know.

My fingers slipping slowly,
Losing everything,
Fumbling in the growing dark,
And it's you I'm blaming.

I enjoyed this, the last lines worked perfectly and I'm sure lots of people can relate to feeling like this.

My favourite verse,
'The sun scorching my neck,
The ice numbing my toes,
The glare stinging my eyes,
And you don't even know...'

Thank you. This is the first thing I've written in a while and I literally just sat down and it came spilling out. All comments welcome. xx

The lines 'to hold onto what was ours' and 'and you don't even know' are just perfectly placed - I really like this piece. Well done.
