And so I wait

And so I wait
Pendant
My life uneventful
Deprived, of your return
The gate, becomes addictive
And I, its dependant a devotee
In its focus survive the last fragments of you
Once clear in their familiarity
Now a well-worn and ill-fitting puzzle
Its essential elements, furtive in their lay
Memories effervesce, placating the pleasantries
That substituted our bond
All in the shroud of your deceit
The hours pass
As I deflect the complusion
With a silent chant
Calming the habitual glances
Each time the breeze brushes against the catch
Knowing, there's no shared abandon
Only time can inflict that wound
Left alone with only the past as a guide to what may occur
Instinct reigns
It gouges in the hours of darkness
When I used to know you were safe
Dismembering dream, intersecting fear
Sometimes I wake to silence what is already suppressed
Only again to hear the faint chink of the catch
