Born into innocence

Born into innocence
Never to be
Fingers stolen from touch
Eyes sightless to see
A childhood forsaken
Before it's begun
Never wondering daybreak
Never basking in sun
A laugh that's been silenced
A voice, never to hear
A void spilling over
With torment and tear
Never to contemplate
Never to sigh
An embittered welcome
An eternal goodbye
Not knowing your views
On this world
That you've left
No, living within it
All reason bereft
Deprived of a birthday
And Christmases too
A longed for embrace
A symbol of you
A memory to treasure
Quelling, anger and pain
To watch you climb trees
Dance in puddles
Feel rain
To marvel a smile
As it lights up your face
To console and protect you
A lasting embrace
All these things that I wish for
Will never become
But, when my life's over
When destinies done
We'll, have forever
To share, you and I
No longer divided
By deaths cruel goodbye
