Granddad

"If you don't quit, with the pestering
I'll put your bike in the shed!"
"If he does Mummy, I'm telling Granddad!"
Cause, Granddad, flies across the sky
He's always got the time
Daddies usually busy
Smeared in working grime
Granddad's very versatile
And he likes plastic food
Daddy say's "I'm working, sweet"
He's never in the mood
Granddad always asks me
He always lets me choose
I like to play at gardening
And water Granddads shoes
Granddad stops the oceans
If my sandcastles to near
Daddy doesn't like the beach
The sand gets in his beer
Mummys always hovering
She's, to scared to let me try
Granddad lets me do everything
We even make mud pie
At Granddads house, I have a bath
And fill it full of foam
I go gliding down the banisters
And never use a comb
I don't eat lime green vegetables
I never wipe my feet
I only use a fork and spoon
Cause Granddad cuts my meat!
Granddad makes the stars come out
The sunlight go away
He makes the pretty flowers grow
And keeps bad things at bay
Granddad never shush's me
Even though he should
I've crashed him with my bike three times
I think he's made of wood
I asked Mummy about Granddad
And why Dad, wasn't as good
She said that time was precious
And it lacked in parenthood
She said what me and Granddad had
Was time without careers
A bracing sense of fun, like minds
No naughtiness, or tears
She said if you could bottle!
What I and Granddad share
And lease it on the nation
Abroad and everywhere
And banished any need to work
And everyone was good
That peace would rein eternally
An earthly neighbourhood
I thought about what Mummy said
Peace means no more war
And Granddad would be happy to help
We'd be the only cure!
I thought of famous, clever people
Like the Queen and Aristotle
I'm going to find a genius
To put us in a bottle!
