Winters mind

As summer swells a fertile land
And cobalt skies, to image blind
An icy wasteland vow's command
The winters of my mind
Bitter breezes stay the bones
Anaesthetising heart
All reason melds to sentiment
As basis frays a part
Veracity is shrouded
Drowned, it taunts from iced veneer
Hushed is every living sound
This, barren time of year
Numbed this essence lingers
To be stirred by thaw of spring
Awaiting hopes advances
The chance anew will bring
External forces penetrate
Secreting-optimistic skin
Its surface oath, symbolic ploy
Fail to bridge the cavernous within
Ever wanton landscapes
Stretch to oceans set as stone
Brittle faith cascades to icy earth
No capacity to hone
The snow-capped summits beckon
As distant season's phantom sleeps
Lost to times, temperate illusion
Found, to winters bitter keeps
