Telling stories

We are telling stories of a journey
not easy for the weak at the start
and if the talk is true, to walk these tracks
needs a red-hot heart; smoke, ash,
carbon footprints on skin sheets of ice.
We will need to swim through water
with blood aquamarine veins
and be still for dreams and visions.
We'll need wine, the kiss of the fresh night air,
constellation footsteps across the violet sky,
and in the dust and crumbs of enraptured mountains
find our weakened knees falling to earth,
arms outstretched, and in communion,
we will need to voice the words of Love.
