heavy fish

surfacing for air
I look at the sun askance
its glow
dwarfed and filtered through space, time, and water
I could not know it would take seven seconds to see
new light from its recesses
My world is here
I am like a human
I think
and worry about my fate
my future
It will be decided on how I chose to live
Dictated by genes
Randomness
And my interaction with my environment
People try to catch me
when i am hungry
I got caught once
But flipped very hard
And was let go
to this day I don't know
was it cos i flipped hard that you let me go
Or were you not like the others
I see your shadows moving
What you do with us i can't tell
but i have lost many brothers
and sisters to your fake food
But I can resist it,
I can see the different movements
But someday you might fool me again.

I really liked this - written
I really liked this - written from his perspective. It's got a dark feel to it.
'I am like a human
I think' - I loved that. Especially the addition of 'I think' - which is something humans seem to do less and less of, in my opinion.
